Wednesday, June 26 – Day 8
We travelled from Concord, (actually Epsom) New Hampshire to Booth Bay, Maine today and pulled into the Shore Hills Campground. (The map above shows our progress from Perrysburg, OH to Booth Bay, Maine.) This was the first time ever that I’ve had to park and unhook in pouring rain. It was also my first incident with the truck. We were backing into our site and I was watching my mirrors for trees when I heard a crunch at the front right wheel. I got out to see a garbage container wedged just under the front bumper. When I pulled forward I could see that there was no damage to the truck and only a picket missing from the wooden garbage container. I am happy to report that the garbage was unharmed in the incident.
After we got unhitched we decided to into town to see the tall ships. This was apparently the start of the Windjammer Days in Booth Bay. I have to learn that these towns only have one main street and during tourist season that one main street backs up for blocks. The fact that all of the curb lane parking had been closed for the windjammer parade didn’t help. After getting some sketchy pictures of a couple of tall ships we returned to the trailer to a dinner of scrambled eggs. Tomorrow – we dine on fresh Maine lobster!
